The Building Blocks of Freedom

This morning, I sat with my young twin toddlers on the living room floor,as is our morning ritual over coffee, bottles and some play. Today we chose to empty and bin and sit surrounded by a mess of brightly colored blocks. Piece by piece, we built towers and arches, letting our imaginations run wild. It was more than just a playful moment. As I watched their tiny hands place each block with focus and delight, I realized these simple toys carried a far deeper lesson — one that resonates far beyond childhood.

My friend Tony Giordano of Riserva Capital messaged me mid-build once shared how growing up with Legos shaped his mind: creativity, instruction, patience, determination, a sense of completion, success, and reward. It struck me that these very same traits — seeded so early, through play — are in fact the essential building blocks of freedom itself.
